Default Obedience Questions

I am completely new to the dog show world. I've shown horses for the last twelve years.

I would like to start showing my now 19 month old dog, Jax, in obedience starting in the fall. Currently, I'm on deployment, so this is just all information gathering and learning until then.

I was reading the AKC Regulations...I need to fill out and submit his Alternate listing form....which will allow him to show in AKC events although we have no proof he is purebred.
-Any suggestions for the Name? Should it be a show name or can I get away with 'Jax'?

I would assume that I would begin in Novice A as I have never titled a dog before. The exercises seem pretty straightforward. Am I correct in my understanding that when doing the recall, I can call my dog, or give him a signal to come, but not both?

I just want to make myself as familiar as possible with the rules and regs...especially now while I have the time. Thanks!!

It takes two photos (one from the front and another from the side) and proof from your vet that he is neutered.

You could, but there might be quite a few of them (there are at least three on this site alone). You might want to add your last name behind his as the easiest way to identify him as yours at a show.

You are correct.

Good Luck to you!
