Default Puppy Ike knows how to stand!

Now we need to get his down faster and fade out the hand signal. But at least he finally learning something other than eating food

Good boy, Ike!

Jason, How did you teach the stand? Teaching that clearly is something I struggle with ....

Thanks!

Sarah, I taught the stand using Michael Ellis's method. Move hand towards the dog, slightly under the chin (I think Ellis refers it somewhere as "punching the dog in the throat" LOL), keep pushing until the dog kicks back into a stand and then mark/release. Once Ike was reliably kicking back into a stand, I added the command right before I "punched" him. After awhile of doing that he started to anticipate my hand movement when he hears the command.

Here is a short clip of Ellis teaching the stand.

Yup, Stark just forgot what "platz" meant....

And he just barked at some lady who was already nervous of him in the elevator.. but of course he had the courtesy to wait until she was stepping off onto her floor....

Try German... like the guy down the street said to me the other day. "You know its a German Shepherd and there's a reason it's German. They understand German better than English."

Yeah, and I'm a full blooded German.
