I have done both. There are many diffferences. The signs are different. If you perform a station incorrectly in UKC, you NQ. There's no jumps until level 3 in UKC. You can ask the judge if you need to redo a station in UKC.
Basically, you need to read the rules. |

If you can do AKC you can do UKC. The signs are a little different. I did not train specifically for UKC. I did read the rules and how to perform the signs and had no problems.
I like that UKC has only 1 jump in the level 3 or Excellent level. And that jump is optional. The judge is not required to have a jump. I took KAyos out and put a URO 1 on her in September. She also has one URO 2 leg. As she is dysplastic I won't jump her so I will do level 2 with her only, unless there is no jump in level 3.

There is a trial coming up in February that has DOS so I might give UKC rally a whirl for poops n giggles.

It will be fun! I plan on finishing Kay's URO 2 when I get back from the sandbox. I will work on her URO 3 also provided ther eis no jump. With the DOS entry you can have a little more flexibility.

How does one get an UKC registration with an AKC registered dog? Is there a transfer that is done? I like how UKC does there obedience more then AKC. I also like how they do showmanship.

If there is a show/trial you want to enter before you can get your registration, you can apply for a temporary listing. As long as you register within 60 days of getting that temporary listing, your points/legs earned will count.
Another link with info... UKC temporary listing
