Sue's thread got me thinking...so..I dug through the pages and found our old goals from 2008. But no 2009 goal list - and it's over midway through the year! So, what are your 2009 goals? Mine were leftovers from 2008. LOL I didn't get much done that year, so stepped it up this year.
This year: Apollo - got re-started training and trialed for his CD - 1 leg so far! Katie - earned her RE; HIC; CGC; and is training for CD. Willow - earned her RN; HIC; TDI; and is training for the RA. Bella - training for her CGC and RN. Did some tracking training (but stopped over summer). Xena - training for her CGC.

I have a GSD that I am getting ready for trial for his CD and CDX. I have to get at least one FFX-Gold or Platinum or I don't get paid so that is my goal....
I have gotten that on all my dogs so far and this dog is a really stable hard worker so I think it can be done easily enough.

My goals were to have Kessy koerklassed and to get her Schh2. We did her Kkl in May so that's done.
I have not been to training in months - one thing after another keeps me from getting down there, doubt we will be ready for a Schh2. Her tracking and obedience are good but I have so much to teach in protection I don't know if I will have time. I am going to try though. Maybe I can do an FH or WH if she isn't ready. |

My goals for the spring trial season with Raven were: SchH2, SchH3, FO, PA, P1, PD1.
We got all of those done in May and June except the SchH3. We weren't quite ready in tracking for the SchH3 so we went for the AWD1 and got that instead. For this fall trial season my goals were: SchH3, IPO3 or AWD2, P2, and then wanted to hit the obedience rings for CD and UCD. Thought about going to the regionals too. But now that she's come into heat 2 months early those plans all went out the window as she'll now be laid up from protection, and barred from the AKC and UKC obedience rings, for the fall trial season. ![]() We may look for some AKC and UKC obedience trials mid-winter once she's done with pups. May do a tracking title or two this fall as well. But the rest will now have to wait until spring 2010 trials.

Training: Continued work on reactivity and fear. We're seeing great progress but it could be better.
We're also working on our new canine freestyle routine (new moves, new choreography).Trialing: Still awaiting results from our canine freestyle video competition. We'll enter the summer competition (by the end of September) and, assuming we Q'd this last time and Q the next time, Risa will have her first canine freestyle title. |

Getting the last two RAE legs for Isa!
Working on Isa's CDX though I doubt I'll get that this year.

We are working on impulse control issues. I'd love to be able to find a good training club to support us when we get to Massachusetts. That will be a real challenge, as I am a newbie and I cannot drive.

Well, mine is more of a wish list than actual goals .. *L*
My primary titling goal is Khana's CDX .. but unfortunately the only AKC club locally has quit offering obedience at their yearly show. So the nearest shows are a minimum of 150 miles away, and traveling is just not an option for me at this point. And, in typical fashion, with no immediate possibility of trialing we've slacked off in training too. Khana is SO capable of earning that CDX, and there just aren't that many chows with advanced titles of any sort. She would be my second CDX chow. So I guess my goals for her are to get back into working on the CDX exercises - keeping them fresh, so to speak - while also easing into the utility exercises. A UD is not out of the picture with this particular dog. She's bright and relatively willing (for her breed). In the meantime, her SD tasks keep her busy and she's done very well with them. I have a lot of trust in her, and her advanced training (especially those out of sight stays .. *G*) makes her an exemplary Service Dog in many ways. Tazer's goals .. tightening up on her heeling so it's more of a competitive heel instead of the wild "young upwards GSD brat" style it currently is. Increasing her understanding of a structured retrieve/hold. Increased ability to hold stays even under distraction (she'll hold a stay while I throw the frisbee now!). And I'd like us to get back into a class so she has some other dogs around for distraction. I never intended to trial her but who knows? I've played with the notion of popping Dora back into rally to get a few titles there. She is capable (and trained well enough) to get all of her rally titles without much trouble. But again, I'd have to travel and rally titles - especially the novice ones - are just not important enough to travel to shows. At the age of 12, Dora doesn't really care one way or the other, but she can really sparkle while heeling and she's fine off-leash especially when I can talk to her. It's the silence in regular obedience that stresses her - she likes interaction and will prance like crazy if she thinks I'm happy with her. Wish I had the energy and financial ability of my younger years! There was once a time when I was showing three dogs at obedience trials at once - Kylee in novice, Lady in Open and Dawson in Utility! And then Kylee moved up to Open and Lady moved up to Utility, so I was showing two in Utility until Dawson earned his UD. Ahhh, the good old days. Melanie and the gang in Alaska
