we have a white german shepherd AKC reg. 9 yrs. old 120lbs we have had for about 2 weeks i rescue an work with abandoned an abused dogs i got him off of craigslist "his owners were moving and could no longer keep him due to they were not allowed to have dogs where they were moving to" i work with dogs i am a certified k9 behaviorist an i also own a grooming shop so i work with dogs every day but he is a bit much for me due to his dog to dog aggression problems my own dogs are scared to use the backyard "HE DOES SHOW SIGNS OF AGGRESSION TOWARD TO MENY PEOPLE AT ONCE, BARKING DOGS AND STRANGERS IN HIS SPACE" A CONTRACT MUST BE SIGNED THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO RE-SALE, TEASE TO MAKE A GUARD DOG, MISTREAT OR BREED, FIGHT OR BAIT THIS DOG IN ANY WAY! i want him to go to a for-ever retirement home i want the best for him he would make a great dog for someone if they worked with him and getting him nurtured 'would help a great deal also, i may consider letting him go with other dogs if you have the right space to keep them separated .

This poor dog doesn't stand a chance with a write up like that, unless a rescue steps up for him. (And most won't deal with aggression.) Putting together a "contract" doesn't guarantee anything either without follow up - people can say and sign anything then go away and do what ever they want. Very sad for this guy.

A free aggressive 9 year old dog on Craig's List that "must go soon''...sounds like a disaster in the making.

Must be pretty serious if a (supposedly) dog behaviorist can't/won't work with him. :/

Hopefully someone who is willing to work with him will take him.

The ad has been removed - I wonder what happened to this poor guy. Anyone have any updates?

Dog is nine. Dog is aggressive and unstable. The dog-behaviorist/rescuer, should take the dog to the vet.

Yes it IS sad.

This dog goes anywhere, and bites someone, that is another GSD bite on the list. And it will concrete in the mind to everyone that hears about it, that they should get puppies and raise them themselves.

I know I am an idiot.

I just think that if you are going to put the time and energy into rehabbing a dog with aggression issues, the dog should not be likely to drop dead from old age before you come close to success.

And as people willing and competent to take dogs with issues on are not overwhelming rescue organizations looking for dogs, you have to draw a line somewhere. And is it really good for an old guy to go from one situation to another, to another, people passing him off for reasons like moving, can't keep him?

Poor dog. People should be ashamed of themselves for giving up a nine year old dog. Moving! Jerks. This is what happens when you dump your old dog. The next people find all the things you failed to mention, and either pass the dog off again, ommitting the essentials, or they take the dog to that one way journey to the vet.
