Exclamation Portland OR-Female 3 Year old - Special Needs

I don't know anything about this girl, a friend sent me an email about her.
And added note in the email says she's very dog-fearful (no surprise given her history)

Quote:
Lisa is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being close to her favorite people. She has been here at OHS for almost three months, and recently went through some big changes! She's adjusting to life on three legs and would love a home where she can take her time settling in. Lisa will need help with training and socialization, as she was living outdoors in her previous home and was not getting much attention. Lisa does display some typical German Shepherd traits and is not for a first-time dog owner. Also, due to her sensitive nature, she will need to find a home with older children who will not overwhelm her. Herding breeds have a strong desire to chase smaller animals, so Lisa may need to find a cat-free home as well.

Lisa was attacked by another dog, and the injuries were so severe to her front leg that it required amputation. She is having a bit of a hard time getting her body to adjust to the loss of a leg, and the staff at the humane society made the decision to help her with some physical therapy. The following are photos from Lisa’s first water therapy session at LexiDog on Macadam Avenue in Portland, which donated its time to help Lisa out. Here is what volunteer Kathy had to say about Lisa’s experience today (6/23/11):

“Lisa did so well today. What an experience for this sweet dog who has been dealing with an attack, a horrible injury, and then the surgery which happened only about six or seven weeks ago. She didn't love the water, but she was so tolerant and sweet, and she was absolutely exhausted, probably both physically and mentally.”

What a sweetheart! I had a three-legged girl, she also lost her front right leg, but managed quite well on three.

I hope she finds a special home.
