This pretty boy is a stray.A good samaritan started feeding him after he started hanging around her home. She has two other dogs, a spayed female mix and a male neutered Norweigan and he gets along with them. He also does well with the lady's 3 yo son who has taken a liking to him. She said he follows everyone around in the yard, will sit on command, and loves to play fetch and with the water hose. She said he appears to be a younger dog,

She's just not able to keep 3 dogs and her only option is to take him to the Mercer County Animal Shelter which she is trying to hold off doing in the hopes of finding him a home!! Anyone who may be interested in this sweet boy please call Amy at 304-222-9335.

What a handsome looking dog. I really hope someone gives him a loving, responsible home.....before he ends up at the shelter.

Would it be possible to check and see if he has a microchip? He looks too good to have been a stray for any length of time. I know if he was mine I would appreciate it if someone would check to return him home before trying to find him a new one.

Yes, that would be the practical thing to do. But, the lady who's home he's been hanging around contacted the local shelter and I'm guessing they told her they've not had any reports of a dog of this description missing... plus she works at a local vet's office and no calls about a missing grey sable shepherd. I guess what I'm getting at is if someone lost this nice dog you would think they would spend a few minutes making phone calls to report him missing at the very least... but his owner must not have cared enough about him to care that he was gone. Beating the bushes to find an owner who doesn't care if a dog is missing probably doesn't need to have it.. I know what your saying though, but unfortunately too many nice GSDs show up in shelters around here and never get reclaimed. He's just one step from being there himself.
