She's been in the shelter since February.
Dixie VBAC 3/18/11 at One True Media - share slideshows, slide shows, Facebook slideshows, free video sharing, video montages. Initially on coming out of her run, Dixie was very hyper and jumping all over the shelter worker. The worker let us know that Dixie hadn't been out of her kennel much lately. A prong collar made a huge difference in the jumping and pulling. Dixie allowed the shelter worker to give her a full body hug and to lift Dixie off the ground. No resistance at all noted. Dixie allowed Pat & Sally to handle her feet, ears, tail, paws etc with no reaction. She didn't like her mouth being examined, but her only reaction was to try to avoid us by turning her face away. Initially Dixie was not a nice girl, but once she had walked and calmed down, she was fine with the other dog. Dixie takes correction well and seems eager to please. She doesn't appear to know any basic commands. The shelter worker did note that Dixie is housed next to a hyper Husky who keeps both dogs wound up all the time. After just the 30-40 minutes that we spent with Dixie, she calmed down a lot. Dixie has just finished heartworm treatment. She is on preventative and is cleared to be adopted. Dixie is spayed and UTD on vaccinations. Her paperwork says she is 5 years old. |
