Traveler's Mom I don't think that is unusual, or if it is, I had that same experience. Traveler didn't bark until he was a year or so. I really thought there was something wrong with him.

Enjoy the quiet while you can. They learn to really, really like barking as they get older.

Speak Command

Is speak (i.e. bark on command) is a part of the basic obedience commands. I have noticed that my 5 month old pup does not enjoy this command, i.e. he understands it but does not enjoy barking. What is the right age to teach this command to an average gsd pup?
