MichaelE I find that redirection always worked best for Lisl. She's still a bit mouthy when she wants to play but there is no biting or nipping and her bite inhibition is excellent.

Lots of toys, and redirection, and talking to her.

Ace GSD I did the high pitch yelp sound then leave him so if he play rough he doesnt get to play with me. Boy im glad mine is somewhat gentler now that he almost turn 6 months

Tirah Yes redirecting! Our pup has more toys than the kids. I know he's just excited and being playful, but I feed him raw abd his jaws are getting stronger, so his playful nipping can hurt, hoping others may have some tricks I haven't tried.

Jake and Elwood I don't have an answer but am looking forward to opinions from the experts on this forum. It's a great question. My 8 week olds are quite mouthy right now. Our efforts to redirect with appropriate bite toys helps but doesn't keep them from nipping us. They especially like my hubby's toes!

16-Week GSD Nipping and Biting

Hi, our 16-week old GSD seems to not understand not to bite or nip when you pet him. I'm pack Mom so he doesn't get away with it with me, but sometimes he gets a nibble in. Our Kids 13 and 15 he tends to want nip at all the time, they tell him no or we've tried other ways like yelling ouch, or pulling on back of his neck, even hold his mouth shut for a couple seconds and say no biting as referred by others, No luck so far. He even tries to go for ankles and feet. Getting worried if I may have an aggressive one, we shower him with praise and love, spend time teaching, but feel it's not enough...Insight or advice
