Ellimaybel 1. Trying to take both my dogs on a narrow trail by myself when it was Gunther's first time in public.
2. Teaching Gunther to hug me good bye when I leave for work.
3. Not getting his blood work sooner to diagnose him faster.

2. when buying a crate look at the dimensions. Chose by size, not suggested weight.

3. not being firm with my husband about kitchen rules. I found both he and the dog snooping in the fridge together. My pup was all about looking for celery while my hubby snooped for sausage. It was cute (wish I had a photo) but I didn't let them catch me smiling. I told my hubby "Hey, you know better! Get that dog out of the vegetable crisper."

trcy 1) I trusted my vet when Riley was sick
2) I let my oldest dog play with tennis balls. He wore his k9's down.
3) When my female dog wanted on the couch I lifter her without supporting her rear end. She then got a really bad spinal cord injury. Thankfully it was only swelling in about a month of crate rest and she was better.

.....my biggest mistakes are always those that impact my dogs the most.

Mikelia I really, really, really want to excel in competitive obedience. The precision of heelwork amazes me. I am an amazing pet trainer, but sport training is new to me. When Eli was young we trained, had fun and got our RN. I wanted the CD so we trained - really hard. I killed his enthusiasm. We NQd our first five times out We ended up taking two years off from obedience, did nose work and agility, had fun and this spring got our RA. And finally, earlier this month, got our first leg to our CD. He has been a HUGE learning experience for me.
Falling asleep on the couch while a puppy is loose. Never fall asleep with a loose puppy :P
Allowing my dog to visit any other dog on leash. Eli was attacked when he was 12 weeks old and I have never forgave myself for it.

Debanneball 1- wearing a flea collar so I would not get them
2- puppy not eating, fried some liver to entice her to eat....wow, messy
3- not putting safetly locks on power windows. Lady stood on window up button, Lucky's head got stuck.....scary.. Drove down road like crazy lady, windows wouldn't work for me...honking the horn...stopped, windows worked thank god, Lucky was okay, but scared.

Kahrg4 1. When I was in high school I whole heartedly bought into the popular televised 'alpha rolling' approach to dog training. :/

2. Growing up all our dogs were always kenneled all day. It wasn't until after college I realized some dogs could be allowed freedom during the day. Felt bad retrospectively for keeping the good ones cooped up unnecessarily.

3. I used to be one of those people who would approach all puppies and let them jump all over me. Sorry past general public!
