sadiesworld Alright, I thought if give an update on my Golden Retriever, Sadie.
I went to the vet (who is my regular vet but she also specializes in neurology) and she examined her and said that she isn't concerned about it. She said Sadie is a healthy dog. So, I'm very relieved, to say the least, to hear this news. Thank you all for your information. And, I have decided against the DM Test.

carmspack when you go to the vet ask about Wobbler's.

sadiesworld So, if the test comes back and the result is "At Risk" does that mean it's a 50/50 chance she will have it?
Or if it comes back as "Carrier" does that mean she could develop DM?

what are the statistics ?

for your dog it may be condition, angulation/conformation -- over exertion, dehydration, have the vet give a thorough examination

And, I have just ordered the DM for Golden Retrievers kit.
How soon does it arrive? 3-5 business days?

get your x ray done to rule out hip dysplasia which is present in GR at a higher rate than GSD .

this dog may have a bit of laxity or loose ligaments .
this dog's conformation will effect her movement.

when you view her from above when walking beside you do you see a twisting back and forth and bouncing of her rear ?

less than ideal conformation requires compensation , and extra energy spent to move , which is tiring on the muscles , strains , and tiring as far as energy expenditure .

She does dramatically swing her rear from side to side when on walks. Especially when she's tired.
And, I only posted on the GSD forums because GSD are the main breeds to get DM.
