huntergreen tnought breeder would have first rights to this dog?

middleofnowhere Listing with his vet would be a good idea. Vets are likely to know people familiar with the breed who may be looking or interested if not looking.

I see nothing that indicates the dog is a "type" -- just that he has not been around kids and small animals.

Magwart Thanks for trying to help keep this dog out of a shelter.

Contact your local breed rescues to find out which trainers they use and trust -- and give them a heads-up that this dog may need help on the 31st. Having a week or more to locate a foster capable of socializing an unsocialized dog will help -- not every foster can or will take this type of dog.

You may also ask the nearest rescues (or, even better, the trainer they recommend) to help you temperament test him. Not being socialized with kids can mean different things. If his instinct is to attack and kill children, that's a problem-- the SPCA will likely euthanize him. If he's just unsure because he's never been around them, that's very likely to be fixable.

The listing of rescues, by state, is here:

Rueger- 2 Year old Pure Bred. We have until the 31st

Hi everyone! This is such a great website! So i saw a little while back on Facebook that a friend needed help finding his beloved 2 year old male Pure Bred German Shepard a home. He is moving and the place he is going wont allow his dog. The dog is sweet byt has not been socialized with small animals or with children. I have asked around but he needs someone who is willing to train him. Any help would be super appreciated. We have untill the 31st and I guess he will take him to an SPCA. Thanks again! You can also reach me through text message or by phone through my cell at 561-901-3425. It is a Florida number but we are in PA. The dog is located in Penndel, PA.

Have a wonderful day!
Christina

P.S. I can't figure out how to post his picture. Let me know and I'll email/text it!
