Peeodee I use baby wipes everytime we come in from going outside because I want her clean and I'm allergic to grass. I clean paws, belly and privates. I use the generic brand at my local food store. 70 wipes for around $3. I started this the day I brought her home. She's 15.5 weeks now. She knows as soon as we walk in the front door to lay down on the towel i have on the floor until everything is clean. I'm one lucky guy because she's not a land shark. She lays there calmly while I clean her. I know this is probably impossible for most if you have a shark.
I use to breed GSDs and one out of 20 pups would break out with blister type bumps on their belly from the grass down here in South Florida. We had to soak them in the bath tub with Epson salt to clear up the bumps and then clean them after they went out. Good luck!

Momto2GSDs Try a rinse of 50% Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (at health food stores. The "Mother" tincture floating around in the bottle carries the medicinal properties) and 50% Purified water (not city tap water). Rub this throughout her coat, belly and legs, leave it on and let drip dry.

You can also put this in a squirt bottle, put some on a paper towel and wipe her belly each time she come in from the out side. Also good to do the feet to keep from itching.

Another irritant could be if your lawn is chemically sprayed/fertilized.

Be aware that any shampoo with Oatmeal in it can also make a dog itch if they happen to be sensitive to Grains.

Athena'sMom My girl had the same problem as a puppy! After her antibiotics were gone the itchies returned! I bathed her once a week in an anti-bacterial shampoo.

It really helped Athena when she was a puppy!

Adelaide's_Dad I just brought home a 10 week old 7 days ago; same thing, lots of itching. Of course it's a hot Georgia summer with temps in the 90's and lots of gnats I suspect that doesn't help either. Vet gave her a dose of some sort of anti-flea pill, but said she didn't notice any, or anything unusual.

wolfie13 You know mine is very itchy lately too. Not quite sure what is causing it. I hope its not allergies. Is there anything that would make it be allergies? Any specific symptoms?

I don't think he has fleas he should still be on frontline plus.

WVGSD I would not worry too much unelss you see a rash or sores. It is summer time and your puppy is small. Her belly touches the grass when she is outside and the blades of grass can be slightly irritating to the skin on her tummy. If there are no bumps or sores, she is probably just reacting to the grasses. Keep an eye on it and see if it gets better as she grows up.

AnyaGSD probably an allergy, most likely to food
