This website helped me a lot in understanding what members on here were talking about regarding hip positioning.

I am guessing it could go good or fair..that is a close call on that Right hip. Even though my dog got "good" with a little more coverage a sports/rehab vet noticed a slight difference in range of motion left to right and recommended some exercise to help correct that.
My vet also said great elbows then the dog went DJD1 (but we have no issues noted by the sports/rehab vet.

Yes. His elbows look simply excellent which is great news! I have been looking into the Pennhip also so thank you for that advice.
As for this xray I would love to hear more about opinions on it in particular-- first impressions and what you think it may score and if I should be alarmed.
Thank you again!

|jocoyn||Have you also done the elbows? ED can be more debilitating than HD.|

Oh, I know this. Health testing isn't the only thing I plan to do and have done. I just hope that these are alright to send in because OFA scores is, in my opinion, a considerable part of the overall picture when screening a dog for breeding potential. Might I ask what is wrong here for positioning? I am trying to figure it out so that I can critique it to the vet. This is his second try and did these twice because the first ones I was not at all happy with the positioning. These I thought were alright but then again I am very new and getting a seasoned opinion is highly valued!

the position is not so hot....they don't look too bad overall....I'd say they would pass IF the position of the one side was fixed and there was still good coverage...
Hips are only 1 criteria of using a dog for breeding - esp a male.....lots more to it if you want someone with a good female to consider him

Dem hips! What do you think?
So, I would like a little advice and what you think this gsd would score! I am looking at the Right hip and, being very new to looking at these, I am a bit concerned because of the space around the ball joint and the smoothness of the joint space and ball. Is this something I should be alarmed about? Please let me know what you think this would score and if this is a dog you would still even consider breeding. I do NOT and will NOT breed unless my boy can contribute to the health of the breed. I still plan to send these in to get scored regardless. Thank you for your support and constructive advice!
