Which animal scares you!!
Hyenas, but I think I am safe up here in Canada

I used to be terrified of spiders, especially the big hairy kind (wolf spiders). As I got older, though, I realized that they are a vital species in the environment, we'd be overrun by insects if we didn't have them, harmful both to us, animals, and all vegetation. SO... over the years I have tried to desensitize myself to spiders, and I am at the point where I can co-exist with them, even catching big ones in the house and taking them outside (FAR from the house, lol) and releasing them.
However, I live in Michigan. I was in Tennessee for a few months YEARS ago, and the spiders get progressively bigger the farther south you go, so I'm not sure how I'd do anywhere that there's not a killing winter.
I also think that the Southwest would be scary, with scorpions and tarantulas...
Mammals don't scare me. There are of course those that I have great respect for, and would never act foolishly around, but I can't say it's fear. Wild animals act as they were programmed to, and if I put myself in a position where I could be considered dinner (or a threat), then that's my fault.

|AngelaA6||...uhm actually for me... butterflies and moths haha. Totally irrational but it's true. They're disgusting freaky things and I hate them and if they're near me I try to put like at least 50' in between us.|

This will probably freak you out, but my daughter who was 6 at the time was bitten on the face by a bat while we were vacationing in TN a few years ago. We rented a beautiful cabin and on the first night we kept thinking we heard a squeaking sound in the wall and decided we would report it the next day (we thought...ew gross probably mice). Long story short, after a bat flew through the house that night (my nephew caught it on the stairs and put it outside), we noticed 2 small puncture wounds on our daughter's cheek. We went outside on the back balcony and saw many many bats flying into a house vent near the loft bathroom (where we all had been sleeping!!). It was bats in the wall!
We took her to the ER and the dr confirmed her wound appeared to be from a bat. She was given the immunoglobulin shots in her face that day and weeks fof shots and because we had all been sleeping in that room, the rest of us had to receive the prophylactic rabies series for weeks. Evidently, you can be bitten by a bat in your sleep and you won't feel it and it may or may not leave marks. CDC was contacted and it was a big mess!
So I hate bats as well, but now that we have been in Arizona for a year, I am terrified of SCORPIONS! Yuck! Thankfully, we haven't seen any in our house, but we have friends here that find them all of the time. So gross.

|Lobobear44||I'm scared of no nonhuman specuea . humans typically don't hang out with other animals except dogs and cats for convenience. Plus people are scared of animals in general. I think humans should hang out with animals more a variety not just dogs and cats or we will miss out. I feel like I'm missing out on many animals myself.|

|swestypants||Hyenas terrify the mess out of me...and the Maned Wolf... I think its a majority the fact that they are not proportional... I can watch shows that feature them during the day, but not before bed or I'll have nightmares. Its ridiculous and I've tried getting over it but its been one of those things since I was a kid.|

I am scared to death of centi- and millipedes. TOO MANY LEGS!
I am also scared of moose...stop laughing...I got chased by one when I was in Maine wearing orange so I wouldn't get shot by hunters, apparently the orange enraged the moose and OHMYGOD they're huge. And determined.
Give me a big old spider anytime.

I don't have any irrational fears of any animals I can think of, but I do have a healthy respect for the dangerous ones. I love snakes, they are so pretty and I love the feel of them on your skin. Spiders are great. I encourage them to live in my house because we get heaps of flies in spring and summer and the good old spiders take care of them. I used to have two black house spiders that I named Berdine and Francis. Berdine lived in the key hole of a door and Francis just . . . seemed to go wherever. Then one day they died and left a legacy of little spider children. Well I kicked them out, especially when a couple of them kept getting in my bed.
I do have an irrational fear of getting electrocuted but when it comes to animals I am probably scared of babies and little children. They are just gross and they always seem to like me for some reason, and all I want to do is get far away as possible and they follow me!
