roadie985 they're shepherds they want to be close to the flock. down stay is tricky as they want to watch you at all times, or so I've gathered.
my guy took a fair bit of "uh-oh", move him back to where I left him then start again.
(he gets uh-oh in the house and "nien" outside) it's harsher plus he's german haha

steve-sh for me its a bit different, she goes where i go.if im on the couch she tries to get up next to me, if im on the ground shes fine with that, if im next to her basket she sits in it.
and each time she gets up on the couch i take her and put her on the ground and she just starts licking my feet with those sad puppy eyes look

im getting weak :P

roadie985 The puppy on the furniture I've been working on this one. What I've seen of it is that it is a social reward. If the puppy is good and works for it, let them sit on the sofa.
I'm keeping the bed as off limits: most dog bites happen in the bedroom (allegedly) and the bed is where the leader sleeps. It's all a bit ceaser but parts of it work. Dutch can go on the bed when the duvet protector is on it and when I say it's ok.
Partly as a reward and otherwise as pulling dog hair out of literally, not figuratively everywhere! is a PITA lol

roadie985 Before I took him on I had a look about, volunteered a few months at a dog training centre to get some basics, also did a serious amount of homework on breeds, I'd looked at everything from collies to ridgebacks, to find something that fitted my lifestyle.
Food aggression has been sorted, he can't guard it if its not there for long.
Even the first steps taking him home, it's my house, I'll let you in, don't go barging in there.
The previous owners had him on a chain collar that was a clip thing, so no wonder his lady couldn't handle him. I tried him on it and it was pull, pull, pull. He's a big lad and very strong so I went for a nylon slip lead.
If he tries to chase things or go for other dogs, all he needs now is one of two things, to be told "that's daddie's" and a little finger pull or for me to get him to sit, wait, then uh-oh and we jog past them, the fella loves to run

Zeeva Looks like a happy pup to me...may take some time for the 'true personality' to blossom but if you keep up with the training and research, he'll be in good hands! <3
