Zeeva I learned this from Packen

First of all consistency in the command and the signal are important.

But here's what really helps. If your pup listens to only you, then your bf or father or whoever wants pup to obey a command; they need to use the same body language and same tone of voice as you. These are like fingerprints for a dog to follow...

cwams He did try to distract her with food, which she is very food driven (she was starved growing up by her previous owner) and yet she didn't care, she was just searching and searching for me. I have never had him pick her up from me, I typically never need anyone to watch her. I realize that since no one else is around her and gives her commands it's hard for her to listen to others but if I am around then she will listen to other people

llombardo Of course she wasn't going to listen to your dad, she probably didn't even hear him in her quest to find you. She was focused but not necessarily on the right thing. Did your dad try to distract her? What would happen if your dad came to the house and picked her up versus you leaving her?

Chip18 My take is a little different,"Separation Anxiety" which "I" think is crap! I expect my dogs to behave regardless of who they are with!

I would do this:

And this:

No harm no foul!

bob_barker I say she needs to spend more one on one time with these people. So that she learns that they are also boss.
My beagle was like that. She would listen to people when I wasn't there though, but as soon as I was around it was as if they didn't exist.
Good luck

Listen to other people?!

My 4 year old Gsd and I have an extremely close bond and she is always with me. She listens to me anytime I give a command, She is extremely smart! But I have a problem with her not listening to anyone else. I left her with my father while my boyfriend and I went to run some errands and he said she ran around looking for me and would not listen to him at all. I am not okay with this, I know Gsd's are protective of their owners and her and I do have an extremely close bond but I want her to listen to other people if I have to leave her with someone. Any tips/suggestions are much appreciated!
