|Freestep||I believe Molly Graf raises Chihuahuas, and I think she is on this forum.|

|LARHAGE||Go to the Chihuahua club of America and look up Chi breeders, I too hated Chi's but bought one for my Mom as she wanted one so bad, the dog ended up falling in love with me and followed me everywhere, when he got killed by a Coyote that came on the property and snatched him it tore me up so bad my Mom went and bought ME a Chi to replace him, my Buddy is 13 now and loves people, he thinks he's a terrier and chases after mice, I never knew how delightful they could be until I had them, they are wonderful little dogs.|

Wellll, looks similar to a long-haired chi, but a papillon is really a great dog. Around 6 lbs ish fully grown with a very happy personality. Sorry, I don't know anyone with well-bred chi's. They do come in a tri-color. The one I had was black and white and loved everybody and all animals. Great little personality.
Sorry, I know that doesn't help you. *blush*

Carmen, if it were for me, I would seriously consider a Schipperke. But:
They are curious by nature and overflowing energy, they need enough exercise and good monitoring.
Known for his stubborn temperament, mischievous and stubborn, the Schipperke is defined, times, as the “small black Fox“, the “Black Tasmanian Devil” or the “black devil“.
Also, they need a 6 pound dog, that is loving and active, but not overflowing with energy, at their age.
My mom has always wanted a Chi.

does it have to be a Chihuahua ?
Ever consider schipperke ? Schipperke - Dogs breeds | Pets.
Know Jan Armstrong for decades , vet tech, have seen her schips , (so tempted) as did Linda Shaw when were were at the large all breed dog show this past Dec.
Got an announcement the other day that a litter is born.
Berry is the mother of the pups Sanhedrin - Meet the Schipperkes
Her schips are just the best in temperament.
Will be going up to visit her when the pups are a wee bit older .
Who knows maybe one of us will be going home with one.
They have not got the health problems that Chihuahuas have .
if you want details , Jan's , let me know.
ack , I didn't see the black and tan requirement --- really?
there is an Asian couple that runs a seasonal nursery . She has her Chihuahuas with her all the time in a safe area behind her cashiers table , with some drapery to keep the Chi's shielded from wind and to control the temperatures better.
there is one Chi that has "connected" with me . When I visit that grocery that this garden centre is annexed to me , this dog recognizes me , by scent , footstep , who knows , but when he does he starts barking and happy dancing and sticks his head out of the curtained area. The owner puts him on the cash counter and we visit -- he rolls over , paws me, sits and begs , rubs like a cat is extremely social .
this lady saws , that where she got him , most are like that , social and not nervy.

Does anyone know of a fantastic Chihuahua breeder? (Not a joke, LOL)
First thing first: Not looking for a rescue, thanks.
Thought I would toss it out there, since it seems impossible to find this info.
I am looking for a Chi pup for my mom and dad, who need a small dog at their age.
Need the obvious health testing of parents and dogs with good temperament.
The not so important: black and tan
It would be great to find a Florida breeder, but we will go anywhere to pick up the right dog.
I have looked on the Chi People forum and the AKC breeder list.
Anyone who can point me in the right direction?
