Chip18 These might prove a bit more useful. You don't need a prong just follow the program. In either case or both, yes you would "ignore the whining" but you are also training calmness into the dog!

Hello all,

Ever since West was a pup, he has always whined for no apparent reason (at least to me).

He is now three, and is ok most of the time at home, but still randomly whines.

When it really comes out is when we go out to my friends or families house. I understand this may be caused by anxiety in these situations from not being familiar with his surroundings.

Any advice on how to make this a little bit better?
