If I could make one small humble criticism it would be to watch the dropping of the food from your hands. A few times he "checks out" so to speak and starts looking on the ground for food, that's because he's used to you dropping it and knows to look there. The only reason I say that is because that's literally the only time he is distracted. If you focus on making sure you hold the food properly and not drop it he will quickly learn there's nothing for him on the floor and will be even more focused on you and that behavior should fade away fairly quickly. I wouldn't correct him for looking, just encourage him to come to you for more food and make sure there's no food on the floor for him to reinforce himself.

That's all, I think you guys overall have a great relationship and it was a lot of fun to watch you both enjoy working together
Thank You very much! Really makes me smile knowing people like watching it. He was a lot of work due to his abusive past. Yes I do drop treats a lot I need to work on that, but that was actually one of our games to build confidence is tossing treats on the floor and me moving to a different spot so hes been kind of used to looking to the floor might be a bit to get him out of that. Yes I try to encourage him to come to me quickly and I don't correct it because his confidence was so low he was afraid he did everything wrong, so for awhile I just gave him treats for anything for trying even if he didn't get it all the way didn't want to put a blow to his confidence, but now hes much better if he doesn't get it I will move back and we try again and keep our sessions to a few minutes. Before we started with sessions only seconds because he would get so anxious and scared for no reason. The difference if phenomenal, but yes I will most certainly work on watching myself. In the video the dropping the treats was an accident not like our games.

frillint1 Wow, I was't expecting so many wonderful comments Thank you all so much it really makes me smile and feel so . I guess I never realized how much fun he was having until I was able to see it. <3

Typhoon: Yes I thought that to when I seen it, but my dad took the video and I am lucky I even got that lol. He couldn't even figure out how to start it, but we will try to take a better video soon.

Zeeva Aw I enjoyed that. Reminded of Smokey and I when we do our 'ob' stuff (it's really just a parlor of circus tricks)

We do that under-the-leg thingy too!

Video: Chief and I doing Obedience

I loved this ! I can so relate to this because at first my dog Gunner would submissive pee and training was horrible. But After hard work, dedication and just plain old fun, which anyone can see you put that into Chief, things get better ! Congratulations on this huge accomplishment you achieved with Chief and keep it up !!

Typhoon If I could just add to what everyone else is saying:

That truly was fun to watch. Mainly because it was so obvious Chief was having so much fun. Maybe there are other dogs out there that do obedience better, but I really can't remember one looking like he was having such a good time.

And if I could also just one small word of advice to make your videos much better:

Turn the camera so that you're not shooting in a tiny little vertical box, so that your image aspect ratio matches the viewer's screen. (That's just a little pet peeve of mine with a lot of online videos.)

Thank you very much. I wish there was a word more than frustration, but it was really very tough I didn't think I could ever get past it and you are right I do find it much more rewarding. I have learned so much with him I can't even describe. Hes taught me patience, trusting him, and that hes his own dog and so much more. I had taught my dog Smokey(passed now) so many tricks and it was so easy he was quick and wanted to learn and would stop till he got it. I had him from a pup, so for the longest time I was comparing Chief to Smokey. Chief taught me to quit that and that he is his own dog and he is very smart he just learns different. Most important he taught me patience and also for me to have fun with it to. Its a game for us now. Doing whatever comes to mind. <3 His stuff isn't perfect but I couldn't have asked for a better dog. I am so happy I chose to get him instead of a puppy from a breeder which is what i was planning. I really appreciate your comment. I do tend to lessen what I do sometimes.
