|llombardo||I find this to be useful info. I knew someone in this situation and they wouldn't leave their pet behind. I was helping her look for a shelter and found that only one would take the pet but its not in the shelter, it would be fostered in a home.|

In case anyone is interested- (women's) shelters that accept pets
I hope I am posting in the right area, but this is a topic that I have been reading on and it's scary and heart breaking...
There are women in abusive situations that sometimes do not leave because of a loved pet. Whether they have nowhere to go, or they are afraid to go due to the abuser threatening the well being of the animal, many women do not leave these relationships sometimes due to this. Thankfully, shelters are popping up everywhere that take in women and families of domestic violence AND their pets. It's so sad because too many times, these situations can end in tragedy. Just put a couple of links to shelters that need help to keep this service going. I am not a representative, I just feel this is an overlooked issue. A pet is more of a family member, and many people do not want to leave their family in a dangerous situation
