He's my service dog. (sensitive topic, but I'm a disabled vet from the Military, I hope that's not too vague for y'all.)

Anyway, I usually take them both almost everywhere, but Sammy is legally permitted EVERYWHERE, but Chief is only allowed where dogs are permitted.

I could train Chief to do the same thing, but I don't really like drawing unnecessary attention to the fact that I get to have my dog everywhere, and 2 dogs would be added attention or stares.

Shade Both of my dogs get together time and one on one. When I take Jazzy to the groomer's I leave Delgado at home, when I take Delgado out for a training session I leave Jazzy at home for example. Both get equal attention and fun things special to them and I don't see resentment from either dog

If you do leave one home I would just make sure they have something special for them as well

Lilie Dogs don't get jealous. They get territorial. With some dogs, when you return to the house, the dog that was left behind might try to establish it's dominance over the returning dog. It may appear that it's because they are jealous, but it's not.

Maxil why don't you take him with you then? Train him as you trained the other one if you feel so bad for him.

though leaving him alone won't harm him, he should depend on him self , same for the other one, I feel the same for my puppy when I leave her alone but my dad says no, and when I come back she rushes and starts licking me like a maniac.

anyways its ok to leave him at home he won't die or get mad at you when you come back.

DJEtzel What work does the GSD do that allows him to come everywhere with you?

I don't think that dogs sense jealousy the way that we do, but making sure that you give the other dog plenty of attention and one-on-one time with you when you are home is a great idea. Have you thought about maybe trying new dog sport with the dog that is left out a lot, to give him something fun to do with you?

Leaving one alone

I have 2 dogs. One is a purebred working GSD, and the other is a GS/husky? mix. The GSD (Sammy) as a working dog can come with me everywhere.. The other guy (Chief) cannot.

I don't like to leave him at home alone all day (I feel bad) but I can't take him all the places I go in a day.

Thoughts? He's part husky so he likes his alone time, but I still don't like leaving him all day.

Do y'all think it will become problematic with him becoming jealous of the other one?
