|selzer||I'd still run a tick panel. There are some nasty things ticks can give dogs, that show up as a minor illness which goes away, and then you have serious problems down the line with the joints. I am not an expert though, but it does seem like dog/tick encounters are increasing.|

Actually, it is a temperature, which does indicate some type of infection/illness -- the body is trying to fight off whatever it is.
I do not think it is that high though. A dog's regular temperature is between 101.5 and 102.5, so this is like when we have a temperature of 100. Since my regular temperature tends to be 97.4, at 100, I feel pretty sick, but I am not dying.
I agree it isn't good for the dog to have a temperature for a couple days like that. I would definitely run blood work, and keep her inside in the AC as much as possible. Keep her hydrated.
I would probably run a tick panel too.
I hope she is feeling better soon.

We have done the blood work a couple times and sent results to different specialists. Her white count is on the high side the vet thinks it is consistent with her body trying to fight off a an infection. There was some concern about platelets I don't really understand it enough to be an expert but it was sent off to a specialist who said something like there are large platelets so she is creating new ones which eliminated some concern. The vet checked her gums and that partially determined she was dehydrated that is why she was on the IV I believe she is back to normal hydration levels. She is spayed and has been for a year.
We talked to an internal medicine specialist who believes we are on the right track for fixing it. He said because she is showing signs of improvement, more alert, better stools, no vomit, better attitude he thinks the antibiotics will fix it. The impression is that it is some kind of viral infection, maybe urinary maybe something else. He wants us to stay on the antibiotics and monitor her temp and give it a few days as long as the temp doesn't reach 106. If by Thursday she still has a fever he wants to start steroids but doesn't want to start them until he is sure it isn't viral.

I hope the vets ran bloodwork? What are the results? How is her HCT? Her white count? What do her gums look like?
That is a pretty high temperature to be running for so long. You need to get to the bottom of this pretty quick.
Is she spayed? If not, when was her last heat?

Sick Dog day 6 of high fever
I am not sure what is wrong with my girl. On Tuesday night she vomited up her food I believe that is when everything started. She seemed fine all day Tuesday, then on Wednesday she was very lethargic. First thing Thursday morning I had her at the vet and she spent the day there getting IV fluids and antibiotics with a temp in the 103s. They sent us home with an antibiotic and anti diarrhea medicine. Friday she was back in on IV fluids again. They had us bring her back to check her temp on Saturday and it was up to 104s. The were not open very long on Saturday so they gave us a stronger antibiotic and put fluids under her skin. Her temp later that day went down to the low 103s and Sunday was back up to high 104s. This morning it was still high 104s and she is back at the vet.
Her stools are back to being formed and not liquid, she is eating a canned food for upset stomachs and is eating again. She is very lethargic and wants to lay around all day. We did notice a change in attitude from the first day, her ears are back to standing up instead of back and she seems more alert and a bit happier but still just wants to sleep most of the day. The vets don't seem to know what is going on and are at the point of starting a bunch of different tests. I don't know if anyone has any ideas based on what I said but I am getting very worried about her.
