llombardo Let's stay positive. If this is a mass, would he have been able to recover from the poison? I would think that would hinder the process or it wouldn't have happened at all and would have made him weaker. I hope everything turns out ok

Charlie W This is just too unfair...Red went back to the vet yesterday, having finished his medication. It was just for a blood test, but I mentioned that he is still wobbly in his back end and that he runs out of energy very quickly. We decided on another X-ray to see how much of the blood had cleared from his lungs. The X-ray showed a large mass in his chest which was not visible three weeks ago because of the internal bleeding. He needs a further X-ray under sedation which will be done in 2 weeks when he's had more time to recover from the poisoning.

It seems too cruel to think that he could have fought back from the brink of death, only for us to discover that he had a more serious underlying condition

Charlie W Amazingly, Norah hasn't tried to play with Red, she's happy to hang out with him while he makes red blood cells! His apetite isn't great and he needs to put on some weight, but it's all progress, albeit slow..

Shade It's good news he's home, being in a familiar setting surrounded by loved ones does wonders for morale. I hope he's back to his old self soon

We need to get him a splint because he's so big, the weight of him is making his toes sore I just hope it's not permanent damage...

Norah was beside herself when she saw him..

I've said it before, but thank you all so much for your kind words, I was distraught last weekend and it was so touching to read your kind words.
Hopefully being at home will halo him recover completely.

BorderKelpie What a frightening experience for you all!

I do hope Red Dog continues to mend and that soon, this will all be just a scary memory.

Hang in there, all of you!
