|selzer||I broke Karma's toe last year. She was a puppy. I broke it, stepping on her in training class. Keeping the little jumping bean still for a couple of weeks was murder. She was kenneled with her mother, and I decided it would be worse for her to try and change that. They taught me to wrap it. So I did my best to keep it wrapped. It healed, and she is a little flat-footed, but it isn't slowing her down at all.|

|Nigel||Must depend on the type of fracture, but the vet just recommended rest and prescribed rimadyl when Tuke fractured her front two middle toes.|

|Shade||Years ago our family dog broke a toe on his front foot when he slipped on ice, he was in a cast for a few weeks and it healed up just fine. It takes time but thankfully it seems to go pretty fast|

Which toe is it?
My last dogs, aussies, both broke toes but later in life. Neither was splinted and both recovered fine. One had broken an outside toe on a rear leg and you could not tell after a couple weeks. My female broke a weight bearing front toe. It too healed up although oddly, she looked flat footed, but it really did not inhibit her.
I bet Gunner will recover quickly and you will be able to walk him in a couple of weeks.

Baby broke his toe :(
I don't even think it's normal how depressed and stressed out I am over this. Gunner broke his toe when it got caught on the crate yesterday. He is only 12 weeks old. They splinted it and bandaged his entire leg. They didn't give him any pain meds or anything, just handed me a boot to put over the bandage when he goes outside and said "cya in a week" so they can change the bandage.
Has anyone else dealt with broken toes in their pups? I'm mostly so worried because he is so little and I'm going to have to keep him crated for the next month or so until it heals besides taking him out for potty breaks and that kills me because this is such a crucial time for him to be experiencing things!
I've also heard so many horror stories about splints/bandages for broken toes so I'm freaked out.
Someone just tell me I'm being overly paranoid or tell me my thoughts are actually valid! Haha..
