Harry and Lola 70pounds for a 1yo GSD male is an excellent weight. Average weight for GSD dogs at 12mo is around 70 to 74 pounds. He has pretty much stopped growing in height now, however may gain an extra centimetre in height by 15 months, he will fill out by the time he is 3 to 4 years old and most average males are around the 83 to 88 mark.

Liesje He's not undersize or underweight and he is really still a puppy as far as physical development. My adult male is 71lbs right now at 5 years old. He is considered "medium" size, completely normal within the standard and is KKL, "V" rated, and a UKC Champion. I also own a puppy (this male's son) who is 7 months and 41lbs but was called "upper medium" size when I showed him, not considered too small or too thin. Depending on lines, they mature and fill out slowly so I would not feed him more or add weight at this age unless there is a medical reason.

I 100% agree!

He looks PERFECT. I would not add anymore weight to him.

You want your GSD to be nice and lean, it's easier on his joints.

I will look into a better brand of dog food once again. I have tried multiple brands of food (ranging from iams, to blue, to puriana) he is a VERY picky eater. Sometimes he only eats 3 cups a day and sometimes he will eat 5 cups in one day. It changes from day to day with maxx lol. His coat is very shiny, he has great gums and is very active so it sounds like he's good just the way he is? Thank you all for your replies!!
