misslesleedavis1 Brooklin produces olympians, we also have a really high suicide/divorce rate going for us.

I had to go up to Uxbridge this morning , took mileage from Lakeridge and Brawley --- 17 kms took me about 2 k's past the Goodwood sideroad . (she is in the 'hood so missleeslee will know the road. ) That lets you get a feel for distance .

You know that Brooklin has two bike Olympians ? Vipond and the Batty girl . Country Lane across Brawley to Cochrane or Ashburn is a route taken by trainers -- see them every day , early , early , early in the a.m.

sled dog off-season training was done in Purple Woods in the Harnden an King lands which go from Simcoe to Orono.
Crazy changes in elevation . What is a tree? answer -- a speed bump. You have speed , you gonna' bump.

Batty and the Mulch...Rhondas kids maybe 47 down hill. Should clarify that mulcaheys (i just butched their last name) have future olympians..endomondo is what andrew uses to clock speed, distance and heart rate. You can talk to andrew all day long about broken ribs, ripped open body parts. The tree wins everytime.

Muskeg I'm sure the 47 km and hour/30 miles per hour was a mistake. Even world class sprint sled dogs only maintain roughly 20 mph for 25 miles. And these are the very best of the best. Limited class dogs might go close to 25 mph on a screaming flat course for around 6 miles, but again, these are greyhound/pointer crosses specifically bred for that and are world champions at that event.

I take my GSD running for 17 km (10 miles) every day, usually more. No problem for her, but she is trotting most of the time and also off leash so isn't at a forced pace. My running pace is an easy trot for my dogs. GSDs can have great endurance, just not at a canter/gallop like many sled dogs or sighthounds. I'd only caution you to be careful if you are doing lots of downhill sprints. Wrist and shoulder injuries would be my primary concern. Enjoy!

No vids but I do have plenty of them playing catch the border collie lol poor dex no matter how fast he goes he has 2 sheps up his butt and they always tag him. Dexter takes his shepherd running job really seriously, he lives for that game.

Try jogging with a stuffed rabbit whipping along lol, Algonquin has some seriously nice trails! We were planning a backpacking trip this week but my infected wisdom tooth ruined plans.

I agree on the trail running though.
I ran track through high school and college.
Trail>Road>Track>Treadmill(Almost not considered running if you ask me)

Nigel Wow, that's a lot of running! Are you guys using multiple vehicles to shuttle back up the mountain? I take Zoe out for bike rides, only she stays tethered, I pedal trying to keep up with the initial take off, but she's so quick. I've had her around 25-26 mph, I'm sure she could go faster without me as an anchor, lol! She sprints full out for the first half mile, maybe longer on some days, then settles in for a trot for the rest of the ride. We do this on a flat cross country type trails, never tried down hill with a dog along.
