|wolfy dog||I love our resident garter and gopher snakes and their babies, living freely in our garden. Snakes are beautiful and mysterious. I have pet mice and pet rats, and love these little guys and the only reason I don't have a captive snake.|

I love reptiles. I have an 8 foot boa who is probably about 7 years old now (he is a rescue, I`ve had him for 4 years and he has grown a lot since then) and a rescue baby boa who is about 4 feet. The big guy, Julius Squeezer, eats every 3 weeks or so, poops a little less often and is just gorgeous. I love watching him move.
I had a ball python for 10 years before Julius and losing him was so hard. And he definitely recognized me. If anyone else took him out of his tank, he would stay in his ball. If I took him out he would relax and then any one else could handle him.
They are neat to watch, easy maintenance, low cost and great conversation starters.
I have had a few tarantulas and adore them as well. Again, they are amazing to watch move. Aknid the arachnid was my rose haired name., I lost her to a bad shed. I am hoping to add one to the household soon
I guess I have always enjoyed what people fear. I have a pit bull and german shepherds, big snakes and tarantulas. Even had Madagascar hissing cockroaches once and they were TOO COOL! Lowest maintenance pet ever haha. My weird pets give me a chance to educate people, and hopefully change a few peoples minds on misunderstood animals.

Most reptiles are Mensa candidates? Really? 'grins'
Like I said .. I do understand that people like reptiles. 'shrug' I just don't .. and it's okay that I don't hehe.

|Galathiel||I do totally get that some people love reptiles, I just don't understand it from my own point of view. And the difference in people liking cats and dogs? They can actually return the affection.|

I've kept bearded dragons, babysat snakes (red tails, corns, carpets, balls, this guy was a huge collector) and I would have to say that their utter beauty always stunned me. Watching them go about the day and the responses they would give was really cool.
I now only have tarantulas and a hedgehog as my 'weird' pets, have to say they are a joy for me. The tarantulas was originally supposed to be one to get me over my fear of spiders. Ended up falling in love with a little b.smithi, soon joined by b.albo and a. Avic. Getting a c.cyan soon too!

I love the personalities of some. Such as my bearded dragon, he is so chill. I can just pick him up. He doesn't run from me. He doesn't try to bite me. He will just lay on my arm. And he knows that my fingers are not food. I can put my hand in his food bowl, and he only goes after the food. He will climb all over me, and maybe rest on my shoulder. I think it's adorable. And he loves to explore new places. I'll set him on the floor, and he is running all over the place, smelling and climbing on things. He has such a big personality. I am going to be getting a green iguana soon. Very excited about that. I LOVE how large they are, and their vibrant colors are beautiful.
I also love knowing that I am caring for an animal, giving it the best life possible.
