I love african greys but like cockatoos they have a lot of dust that might bother other species like macaws.
African greys are great birds. I think they are the smartest bird in the world? (next to ravens) not totally sure though.
All my macaws talk and say all sorts of words lol But not the way africans do.
My caique trys to talk but you cant understand what hes saying. Oh and my mynah also.

|CelticGlory||I really want a parrot, when I eventually move I will probably get one. Its between the Timneh, African Grey, Blue-throated macaw or the Catalina Macaw. I just have to plan it carefully since their diet and care is so expensive (especially with toys and diet!).|

How do you find your scarlett and giant green macaws? I never looked into scarletts after seeing the horrible scar on my friends hand.
All parrots can do that but when i read up on them they say scarletts are known for it? THey really are stunning though. My Green WIng can be a huge handful when he wants to distroy something and I stop him lol

Bottom picture he flew on my short tailed possums cage but I took him off asap
You should see construction workers had to work around my macaws cage and he would spread his wings anad go after them they were terrified of him. But they all did take his pictures which he loves.
I am hand feeding for now but will stop soon as he is comfortable with me because during this season I read its no g a good idea.
Love to see everyone elses large parrots and bios
THe beak of my green wing is MASSIVE i read it is the second strongest beak in the world? hes not as social as my b&g
THey all seem to get along nice because of the huge amounts of space between them, if they were more crowded they would fight and or kill each other. But like i nthe wild they have a lot of space between them so if one doesnt like the other they can move. Also all my cages are at least six feet high and 1 meter thick, that can house about 2 if they are allowed out every day, i dont think there is any cage that can house a macaw if they are not allowed out all the time. They have like4 foot wing spans.
PEOPLE do encourage their parrots to interact with cats/dogs BUT I feel this is wrong, SPECALLY cats because of how they can quickly lash out with their claws. THey carry pstella bacteria in claws and teeth which cana cause extreme pain and death for any macaw, I think macaws and other pets can safetly be in the same room just not play together. Also I am sure a macaw can take off a dogs nose if it wanted to? If the dog was not being careful. Dogs love to stick their noes up to animals.

Miss i am waiting
Ok mine fly all over my house only the baby gets his wings clipped because he is a goof he would probably land right on my dogs head. HE has lack of comon sense.
If i go upstairs to use the bathroom he will waddle up the stairs one by one lol
yeah macaw are def for people who understand birds that power of the bill is just crazy, if you understand them they are great if u dont know what u are doing they are a nightmare.
Not a good animal to have around kids
Mine is getting use to diff areas of the house here i brought him to the kitchen, they are wild animals even if captive bred so unlike dogs, cats, ferrets canary it is hard to predict them.
Again this is JMHO there are people here i am sure much more experienced.

|Syaoransbear||I'd love to have a macaw, but not until we get a bigger house as I'd like to custom make a bird room. Right now I have a 3 year old red-sided eclectus, a 3 year old blue headed pionus, and a 19 year old ringneck dove.|
