Clancy_Wiggum I adopted a 7 m/o who is very clearly a working line dog. She has prey drive out the wazoo. But she was beaten by her previous owner, and I don't see her ever being able to display aggression towards a human without submitting. She would make a great drug-sniffing K9, but I don't think she could ever be trained for personal protection. I think that is a good example of the difference between drive and aggression.

Blitzkrieg1 I have always understood aggression to be a byproduct of drives.

As in aggression can come from -
Prey drive
Defense drive
Pack Drive

Chris Wild Several of the articles here, especially the Dog Terms I and Dog Terms II, will help you get a better understanding as well.

Aggression vs. Prey Drive

Excuse the uneducated question, I really don't have any experience in dog behavior.

As I have been researching more about the breed, because I am interested in obtaining the breed.Prey drive, & aggression commonly mentioned while I research.
I know prey drive is genetically hardwired, so any dog (breed) could can have prey drive, & it can't be "removed".

There may be obvious answer-But what is the difference between aggression, & prey drive?

When does prey drive(if it ever does), become aggression?
