MelissaC Thanks guys!

We certainly put a ton of time into training with him! This is our first dog (besides having a family dog as a child) and I had high expectations. He has met all of them! I wanted a shepherd because of their intelligence and protectiveness. He is VERY protective, almost to the point where it is annoying. I'm ok with it though!

He knows even more tricks now! We are working on "go get me a beer" he so far just knows how to go open the fridge. We are going to do some agility stuff with him this summer too. He loves to learn.

The only real complaints I have is he doesn't like to come inside when he's called in from outside. I think it is just a phase, he's at that age! He knows what "come" means but sometimes as soon as I say it he runs away immediately! Little bugger

SuperG The video is awesome....obviously the time spent training is well worth it.

It's great to see such a young pup have focus...especially when there are so many others dealing with puppy should be inspiring to those who might be thinking they have a puppy which is in it's own world....and won't "listen".

I wish I could say my pup was that well trained at that age...but I'd be fibbing a wee bit. The best part of seeing such performance by your dog is it always reminds me it probably isn't the pup's fault for not obeying but rather the fault of the owner/trainer. Yes, some dogs are smarter than others but the human element is more likely the difference...guilty as charged on my behalf.

Great job, you have to thoroughly enjoy Axel as part of the family.

My Little Goofball!!

This is Axel! He's 9 months old now! Here are a few pics of him over the months we've had him (since he was 7 weeks). I'm still not sure what his ears are doing, they are up when he wants them to be but mostly somewhere in the middle. He's a shepherd/lab mix and SO smart.

Heres a youtube vid of some of his tricks. These clips were shot from 7-12ish weeks old.
