Kaasuti Royal Canin is terrible food. When i first got my dog i was told by the vet this was the best food (before i knew vets are brainwashed by big brands). My dog suffered from dry skin, allergies and diarrhea. Raw is the way to go, if you want what is best for your dog.

Exactly, most of the breed specifics are identical. If you really want this food buy the cheapest breed specific one and paste a picture of a GSD on it.

Brando & Julietta's Dad I used Royal Canine German Shepherd for many years until I switched the Orijien. I was not informed as well as now on dog food and would never use or recomend royal canine to anyone. The ingredients are not good in comparison to most quality foods. The fact that royal canine claims to be German Shepherd specific is a fraud. Compare the ingredients to Orijien and you will see the difference. The improvements in hair, skin allergies, health, energy is huge. The biggest regret I have is using royal canine so long before I switched because I thought it was the best for the GSD because their bogus labeling...

Liesje In some countries, this is the best food available, but in the USA no I would not feed it unless there's a reason (maybe a dog just does better on it than "better" foods).

Arlene/Archer I wouldn't be a big fan of RC GSD at all. Archer was on it as tiny pup, but after a bout of demodectic mange I switched him from commercial foods to raw feeding and it cleared up in no time at all. Also, he was slightly stomach sensitive on RC, and now has a cast iron constitution. Of course this is all anecdotal, but honestly, I think RC is overpriced for what it is.

rickaz80 My dog had skin problems with the royal canin. Now all my dogs eat the blue b. simple turkey and potato.

Gretchen Our dog had many GI problems, we tried many different dry foods, this brand actually worked well for us, plus my dog liked the taste and we would use the kibble for treats when we did training.

Due to health problems, we found our dog does best on raw type foods, she just can't handle too much kibble in general.

I believe it is high in glucosamine, which was a plus. I didn't need extra supplements.
