SuperG Sounds like a good idea to pursue.

The "cleaner teeth" you mention might be more a function of the bones in a raw diet. I am uncertain if pre-made raw food includes bone in the form which would aid in pearly whites. I'm mostly certain that the pre-made raw foods include bone but maybe in a ground up fashion to satisfy the bone requirements for a dog eating "raw".

Seems like you are headed in a direction to see if a raw diet will benefit some of your dog's lesser health issues...i.e.'s certainly worth a try.

This might lead you to a diet for your dog which consists of "rawer" version than a pre-made raw diet.

It is important to make sure, if you do it on your own, to get the requirements properly fulfilled for your dogs.

CharlieB.Barkin There has just been so much uncertainty whirling up inside my mind. I know quite a bit about human nutrition, but really know nothing about animal nutrition. It seems like a massive task to make a complete and balanced diet from scratch.

I'm New to Raw Food.

Buy a bag of chicken quarters and make the switch you will not regret it.

Purchase a spare freezer chest and invest in a nice pair of kitchen shears .

I'm New to Raw Food.

I've done many many hours of researching kibble. It's an ongoing pursuit of mine, but I saw pre-made raw dog food for the first time about a month ago. They sell it at my local pet store.
It's this specific food:
Instinct Raw Food for Dogs and Cats | Instinct Pet Food for Dogs and Cats
Instinct Healthy, Natural Kibble Products for Dogs | Instinct Pet Food for Dogs and Cats

I recently found out that supposedly dogs who are fed raw have cleaner teeth. I also heard that they produce less waste. I switched my dogs to Performatrin Ultra Grain-free recently and my dogs' stools go back and fourth beings soft and firm. My poodle is also scratching her ears a lot. Is this due to allergies? I used to feed them Orijen, but I had to drive far to get my hands on it and that wasn't practical during the winter. I know very little about raw food and would appreciate any pointers.
