|Ellimaybel||I just this month filled a 60 square feet rock bed that houses 4 huge hedges with cedar chips to help deter fleas since the birds live in those hedges. At first Gunther would chew on the cedar chips but he has found that his football and tire are much more fun.|

I use a mixture of pine and cedar shavings in the 'potty' kennel. I've never had issues with them eating them. I just hate it when my poodles sneak off to play in the shavings - what a grooming nightmare!
I do like to just dump a huge pile of it in the kennel and let the dogs play and dig in it. They spread it nicely and have fun doing it. Environmental enrichment. lol
(I do the same in my chicken coop for the birds to scratch in).

Shavings for kennel?
Pro's or Cons?
Anyone use them?
I got cedar shavings and family members are worrying me with the threat of my dogs eating them and twisting their guts. I don't see them "chowing" on wood shavings when they are well fed, but my female does like to chew wood from time to time.
