Twenty years ago I started my new pup on the kibble my breeder used. My girl had bad stools with it so I tried other "good" name brand food, always cleansed the system between. Tried 4 other brands before trying Iams lamb/rice. With Iams her stools were perfect, coat shined, minimal shedding and she liked it. Fed iams l/r to my next 4 dogs. All did super with it.
Last year was talking to my cousin who works with a rescue org. and she scolded me for feeding them iams. So did some research and decided to try no-grain, or at least less. Have been giving my guy TOTW lamb/rice for the past year... honestly dont "see" any difference with it. Still good energy, stools, coat, palitable etc. I "believe" it is better for himso will stay with it...

|katieliz||have had outstanding luck with pinnacle, made by breeders' choice. no body odor and nice, tootsie roll poops. several different protein sources to chose from. really saw what a difference good nutrition can make when rehabbing rescues. pedigree, iams, science diet, anything from the vet...all bad. second to genetics, nutrition is everything. imho.|

|owens91||I've been using iams puppy large breed since I got ares at 1 month, I had no idea what made them so bad. I thought about using blue buffalo before I think it was the one with the wolf on it But they wanted so much for a small bag. So what is a good brand ths t has good nutrition. I would like to do research|

|Huskerfan||Just picked up our new GSD yesterday at 8 weeks. The breeder (who seemed very knowledgeable) suggested Blue Buffalo. We found it at Petco. Our little guy likes it a lot. This is our first time with this breed so we are new at this also!|

No to Pedigree, Iams, Purina, etc.
Yes to Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Orijen, Fromms, Taste of the Wild, Solid Gold, etc.

|K9POPPY||Just my 2 cents worth- FROMM Gold LARGE BREED PUPPY to 6 months then switch to Fromm Gold Adult. Fromm is 1 of the oldest, most trusted dog food companies in the US, EXCELLENT INGREDIENTS, with NO recalls ever- IMHO, Bob|

|Kaasuti||Iams is terrible!, Don't feed it to your dog. If you insist on feeding kibble go and find a high meat content one. Orijen is what i used until i put my pup on raw (he was on raw at four months).|

|huntergreen||over thirty years ago, i was faced with the same bitting issue. our trainer at the time instructed me to insert my thumb into pups mouth and hold it there for as long as you can, those little teeth are like needles. all i can say is it worked for us and we still have our thumbs. i am far from an expert on these issues.|

Oh sorry thanks Sue, much appreciated.
