Hey guys! sorry about the untimely response!
Been awhile, Iv got a new picture of the two...and a few updates!
This little czech fella is something else.... He attacks lawn mowers, vacuums, brooms, and latches onto tug ropes and hangs 4-5ft in the air for minutes .. did I mention he is full of piss and vinegar..?
Haha, getting back to the whole bowl thing... the little **** hogs the bowls actually, and oz surprisingly LETS him! So we use two bowls, and do not allow little Ace to go near Oz's bowl. Oz is very gentle and nurturing, almost like a father/mother figure, he lets him get away with EVERYTHING..
Ace latches onto his neck, Ace bites his nose, Oz loves rolling over on his back and letting the little guy latch onto his neck and he will just lay there and gently nibble on him.. and they will do it for hours.. almost like a lioness with her cub.
Sometimes when they get too carried away, or if Oz has enough he will let him know and it stops. you can totally tell that he respects him, and his size for now... the future?? Who knows... I think ace is a more dominant alpha dog just by judging his characteristics as of now, but I don't think, nor hope they challenge each other, and live a playful happy life together.
Their favorite game is Oz grabbing a toy and having ace try to catch him..

What a cute puppy, I agree with separating the food bowls, things escalate very quickly and you might not see the signs from your 1 1/2yo.
Have separate bowls and if you can put puppy and food bowl in a crate next to older dogs bowl so they learn to respect each others bowls and when puppy is older, depending on success, he could eat next to older one.

Definitely have separate food bowls for each, wanted to do a test on my older male gsd to see if he would share his food bowl, and reinforcing that in an sense of approval from him.

congrats on the pup. He's a cutie and I'm sure you will enjoy him.
I would have seperate bowls for each dog regarding food. I want to know who is eating what and I also know that the "puppy license" will expire & the older dog will likely kick his face out of the once mutual bowl.

Couldn't help but get a second dog...
Male pup, purchased him from a gentleman that does training with police departments and runs breeding programs... 10 hour drive
My 1 1/2 year old is learning to accept him, few growls, barks..and little nips here and there..
Eventually had them sharing food out of the same bowl, drinking water, and they were running around in the yard with the pup chasing him.. so he's learning to accept him.
Future best friends..
