Freestep Neutering/spaying does seem to affect the coat, usually making it softer and the undercoat more profuse. Could just be seasonal shedding, if his skin looks good and all his tests came back fine, I wouldn't worry.

Losing a lot of guard hairs.

Probably worrying over nothing - but Jaeger (turning five in May) has been losing a lot of his guard hairs in the past several weeks. His skin is happy and healthy looking, he's not digging at himself or acting itchy, his diet has not changed at all, there has been no new stressors in his life.

He was neutered Jan. 15th this year (boy was that one heck of a day for him). But that is the only thing new, and he had a ton of blood and thyroid tests done at that time and they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with him.

If it persists and gets bad I will of course get him checked out. He doesn't look thinned or patchy yet, but every floor in the house has a fine layer of guard hairs on it 24hrs after vacuuming. Just wondering why all of sudden this year he's blowing his guard hairs after his undercoat.
