selzer In my third litter, I had a single male pup and six females. The boy, Bubba went to an 80 year old fellow who uses him as a service dog. He had him professionally trained, and he goes with him with is wheel chair everywhere. That is my only experience with a single male that was not a singleton.

SunCzarina No worries there's only one male. His sisters will gang up on him LOL.

Otto came from a litter of all boys.

TigervTeMar something from a book I remember reading was that no matter which one you pick it will seem like he was the perfect one and you'll wonder how you were so lucky. for me at least it's true so far (like honestly, he seems to be the perfect dog for me and impresses everyday), but I know some people are on here with various issues. so take that for whatever it's worth.

glad you're excited, these are incredible animals. intelligent, loyal, regal and goofy at times, and second shadows. that's what i've gotten out of my guy so far and he's 14 wks

holmes11210 Thanks a ton for the reassuring comments. I've been on this search for over a year. I'm really excited.

TigervTeMar chance really did pick for you . I agonized over the breeder and then again over all the males there were to pick from so totally get what you mean about being cautious about everything

Only 1 male born in the litter.

I just wasn't sure if single males ended up being more aggressive. I looked at a lone male a few months ago that seemed overly aggressive. The puppy was 4 months of age and from a different breeder so that might be the factor.

This current breeder is excellent and being really helpful. I like the pairing and I just don't want anything to go wrong. Being overly cautious I guess.

TigervTeMar don't think so, my guys litter had 5 males 6 females and the next litter (different dogs) had 2 males 5 females. all were good dogs from what I know, just chance! I get that you wish there were many to choose from but I don't think it's a sign of something bad

gsdsar Nothing medically concerning. But be prepared to wait for the next litter if this single male is not a good fit.

Only 1 male born in the litter.

Should I be concerned if only 1 make is born in a litter of 5 puppies. I had first choice on a make but my breeders litter only had the 1 male. Are there problems with this?
