Hans has one that has lasted about 8 months that looks like he has barely touched it. It seems pretty hard in the center. He has another one that is a little softer in the center that he has been working on in his crate at work and I can tell it ain't gonna last long! I thought they were both supposed to be elk antlers. Obviously, there is some difference.

Our Cowdog finds her own deer antlers and drags them into the yard to work on.

Yep, sounds like your dog set a new world record for antler chewing.

No, a person doesn't mind spending the money if they actually last awhile...but 10 minutes? Ouch.

Stevenzachsmom My dog likes moose antlers. They are the hardest, so last the longest. I buy them here... Home - Acadia Antlers Tines last longer than splits. I purchase both. I've had one tine since September. It's a really big tine that I first gave to my big GSD foster boy. Not cheap, but worth the money, IMO. (VGSR peeps, take note that Acadia will be at SuperPetExpo.)

Liesje My dogs won't touch the really hard, dense antlers, they'll ignore them for Nylabones. The more porous ones they love but eat the whole thing in minutes.

RocketDog You guys have to buy them? I just find them in the 'neighborhood'.

Now you know why GSDs are called "land sharks." They can shred and demolish everything in short order.

Ali B. I order my elk antlers from Yellowstone Antlers Each batch has lasted several months and my girls are pretty aggressive chewers. When the ends start to wear down my husband will shave them down on his band saw to expose the marrow. Good as new!

Shade I agree with the others, I've had some that only last a day or two and some that have lasted months. It depends on the individual antler

Wild Wolf I've had both of mine for 2 years, but it really depends on the softness of a particular antler and how aggressive of a chewer the dog is.

Galathiel Be sure they are not 'split' antlers also. Those don't last at all. I've gotten some that lasted a good while and others that he was able to gnaw down pretty handily.

llombardo Elk or deer? The elk are stronger. I don't get the deer ones anymore.
