|Stevenzachsmom||They are nomadic and will generally move on without you doing anything. Rabies is rare in opossums. I had read once that it was due to their low body temperature.|

Do marsupials get rabies?
The possoms got my cat twice. She never recovered after the second attack. They are Evil. I saw one the other day while driving and managed to avoid it before I remembered that I don't like them.
I don't like things crunching under my wheels so I probably wouldn't have hit it on purpose. But the idea of going into the the ditch rather than hitting a possom... Yeah, that doesn't go over well.

I have not had a opossum in the yard since Fiona and Gilda wrestled with one. So that may keep them out. But make sure don't leave dog or cat food out, they eat it. The girls are fed in their kennels now, so don't have to worry about leftovers being found by the nightlife.
When I tooled Fiona to vet after the opossum wrestling, he said the chances that the opossum would be the one with rabies is low. The rabies shot protects them.

How to keep Opossums away.
Anyone have any good tips or tricks to keep Opossums away? Finn ran up on two in the yard today and while I know how rare it is for an Opossum to have rabies, I'd rather not run the risk of a bite from one. Also, is there anything better to clean a dog up with other than Peroxide? I cleaned off Finn's paws and muzzle with peroxide, but should I use something else?
