katro The rescue gave us PetLink, but an hour after it was inserted it came out and I found the chip just hangin' out in Ralphie's fur. When I took him back to the vet, the vet's office had HomeAgain. It hasn't come out (as far as I know). The only thing that bothers me about Home Again is that they spam me with junk mail about signing up and paying for their premium service.

Chicagocanine I've had pets chipped with several companies (depending on where we got the chip) and so far I like ResQ/Petlink the best. They let you enter all your info online, when you register the chip with them you set up an account on their website and you can update it any time you want for free.
I also registered my dog's ResQ chip and tattoo# with AKC CAR, they give you a ID tag as well.

Zlata We currently use 24PetWatch because that's what the rescue used. No annual fees. There *is* a fee to change ownership or update your contact information/address (not sure how much.) We own our home and aren't going anywhere, so I don't foresee us having to change anything.

SoCal Rebell I use Avid on all my pets.

Athena'sMom I prefer petlink that is what Athena has but my new puppy got a home again chip and there is a yearly fee to update information but chip is still active with current information. it is $10 to register a homeagain chip with petlink. If you are doing it yourself just make sure to stop by a vet or animal shelter to verify it is inserted properly, have them scan your pet with their scanner to see if they are able to read it!

Neko Any really, but we went with DATAMARS or PetLink as it is international and numeric only not alpha numeric. It's easier with just numbers also it was required for our pup to show.

Zeus has an AKC reunite chip as he was chipped at our training club.

They are all around $30 and home again is very popular. Also shelters do it for $20 on walk in.

There should be no early fee, that's of STUFF.

Hello everyone,

I want to microchip my 2 dogs and need advice on which company to use. I googled microchipping and it returned with several results, including HomeAgain and AKC reunite, to name a few. I noticed homeagain charges an annual fee, and from what I have heard that is not necessary. Any tips or advice where to purchase them? I also noticed they come in different kHz frequencies. Im not familiar with this, so if anyone could explain what the normal kHz is? I plan to administer the microchip myself. I vaccinate my own dogs, and am very comfortable with doing the injection myself. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. My pups usually wear collars but sometimes I take them off when theyre jiggling around at night and keeping me up, and I dont always put them back on right away. They do it on purpose to wake me up, I swear! But yeah, I would feel much more comfortable having them microchipped. Thank you in advance!
