|BensLife||Maybe you can place a mat or something under his crate and when you're done feeding him or at the end of the day you can just clean the mat off? That's my suggestion from reading about the crumbs!|

|Chip18||I have heard/read that dusting/spraying with food grade diatomaceous earth works with fleas. Might work on ants also?|

We had a major problem with the crazy ants in our barn. They kept getting into our electrical box. So one week my flood lights wouldn't work, then my interior lights wouldn't work, then my tack room light wouldn't work....every weekend we were working on the electricity in the barn.
This friend of ours told us to take the yellow tags that they put in the ears of cattle. There are two types, one is medicated and one isn't. The medicated ones are much more expensive. You use the medicated ones, cut one into smaller pieces and put the pieces in the electrical box. The ants will avoid the medication in the tags.
So far..so good. No problems. Could be luck, could be the tags. I really don't know. But we are going to use the remaining tags and place them in other areas, like our pump house etc. Can't hurt. Just make sure they aren't touching anything that can cause the plastic tag to melt and start a fire.

|SunCzarina||Crazy ants???? My sugar ants drive me crazy enough. One year I was on the phone and saw them hatching out from around my patio stones. Lost my mind, went and light an incense stick so I could burn them to death.|

In Texas, you will always have a problem with ants. It was bad enough dealing with Fire Ants, and now we have to deal with Crazy Ants.
As mentioned above, if you spray around your foundation and keep it clear of vegatation, it will help control the ants that go into your home.
If your house/building is on a foundation, take special note to any weep holes you might have. Ants love to enter your house through those. If your home is on blocks take special note regarding under your home. You may have mounds there.
Crazy Ants like to seek out anything electrical. By the time you realize you have a problem...you have a problem! If you think you have those, it's best to seek professional help to get them under control, then treat on your own.
Sugar Ants (which are common household ants) can be treated as well by spraying around your home.
With all the rain we are having now, we are treating more often than we normally would. When summer comes and things dry up, we'll be able to treat less often.

He's a cute little guy though! I wonder if the kibble's too big for him? Try gating him in the kitchen and sweeping up afterwards.
We used to get ants too until I started getting my house foundation sprayed twice a year. My children would drop a piece of dorito on the floor and there'd be 50 of them swarming all over it. In leu of spraying, you can kill them with dawn dish detergent, squirt it right on them.

Taking food away from bowl to eat it.
Arrrrgh. Only problem it's causing us is: ants. He'll leave crumbs all over the place or a piece will fall out of his mouth and go under something and we won't know. He did this before and a piece went under his crate.. then we were wondering why he kept randomly whining in the middle of the night.. cuz he was prolly gettin' snacked on my ants. >< (been checkin' around the crate and everywhere else constantly ever since then)
