LaRen616 I thought the cat/jesus thing was funny, my ex boyfriend sent me that before.

I seriously can't believe how easily people get offended, it is so annoying.

Actually the first mention of Jesus may have been the Gospel of Mark, which was the first of the synoptic gospels. Mark was not one of the 12, but it is thought he was the young man that ran off without his cloak. Mark wrote for the Romans, Luke for the Greeks, Matthew for the Jews. But Mark was the first, and got much of his material from Peter.

But Flavius Josephus was Jew and he mentioned Jesus. Other mentions were made of him as well. There is plenty of mention of the sect that called themselves Christians, and professed the teaching of Jesus as the Messiah, throughout history.

Can we find the actual early documents of Jesus' birth -- birth certificates weren't the thing back then. Or the execution order for him? Probably not. Jesus was a Christian, not a Roman Citizen like Paul. There may have been more actual evidence of Paul as her wrote many letters, that were later cannonized, while Jesus wrote nothing. And, Paul was a citizen, while executing a Jew like Jesus in a province of Rome, was probably not likely to be recorded anywhere.
Incorrect. You are incorrect on your facts, and your dates.

Ok. I really wanted to leave this alone. And I will. But um. NO. Most SCHOLARS most certainly DO NOT agree that he lived. In fact, there is no verifiable evidence at all. The Apostle Paul lived far after the time Jesus would have, and the first mention of him ever is in Flavius Josephus in The Antiquities of the Jews. Based upon *cough* scholarly research, even this is doubtful, based upon the fact that he was not Christian. I did actually study with scholars the subject of religion.

And since this will likely get this thread closed, I will stop now. But I urge you, if you are inclined, to actually study the origin of your religion. You might be surprised if you are open to facts vs hearsay.

Making fun of him, is a slap in the face to those who are Christians. People imprison and kill people over insults on their religion. But Christians aren't even supposed to take offense.

Whatever. That photo is in poor taste.

People get their panties in a wad about all sorts of things that I cannot figure out why it is so important. I guess I am entitled to get mine in a wad about something that is very important to me.
