KathrynApril Yikes so good to hear you were getting feedback from the club. After my first puppy class, I am going the club route for additional training in the future. I actually forgot that one person had stopped attending after the first day. I stopped after a few days. Seems like there are a LOT of threads lately about people not having a good experience at obedience classes.

From what I gather she was an older long time member of the club but had not taught in a long time. They gave her the chance at teaching this class but she secretly only wanted to teach show dogs. They said she was stuck in a very old school mentality of training and wouldn't even consider newer training methods. I don't think they figured out that she was unwilling to change until after she was under contract to teach that session. The registrar said they had a great seminar on new training methods the weekend before the class started and asked her to come but she refused.

I was really glad to hear how they responded because after this class we planned to become members.

One women complained to her after class, one other guy withdrew after the class and she said she has two others to call back still. So that is 5 out of 11 in one day. She offered to move my payment to the next Obedience II, refund the money or put in in Obedience I. I decided to redo Obedience I just because I want my dog to work around other dogs. I'm glad to hear they were so responsive and it wasn't just in my head.

I agree 100% this is something I do because I love to work with my dog and she loves it. I am not practicing for a title or trial.

Okin I'm going to talk to the person that is in charge of Obedience about my experience. I am probably going to ask if changing classes is possible. If not I may do one more and see if my experience improves, if not I will just not finish.
