In some states, if you give rabies vax at home, it doesn't "count" legally--the dog will be treated as unvaccinated in the event of a bite (likely impounded and held at animal control for 10 days, and possibly then euthanized at the end of the hold, and then decapitated to send its severed head to the state vet school to check for rabies in the brain -- like any other unvaccinated dogs). Scary stuff -- that's why in my state getting the rabies vax from a licensed vet is not optional!
It all depends on the law of the jurisdiction, and how progressive they are or are not. Check this very carefully -- it varies a lot from state to state.

If you have to have proof I would go to a vaccination clinic. Often times local vets or petsmarts do them and that way you don't have to pay for an exam at the same time.

discuss the protocol with your vet and ask them to follow it
they will have the proper vaccines and then it will be official as well

|Msmaria||I have done a few at home. i did Dexters and his siblings first shots myself because i was afraid to take them to the vet at 6 weeks. Some of the trainers , groomers and doggie daycares won't take the home vaccination record I have found out. Check with them to see if they accept home vaccinations, because you wouldn't want to do them twice.|

Honestly, I'd just get the vet to do them. It's good to take your dog in for a wellness exam anyway.
You can maybe have your vet run a titer test for the parvo/distemper when you go in for your rabies shot

Want to vaccinate at home...info/help
Ziva is coming up on her first birthday. I realize in a couple of months she will need to get her vaccine boosters. I would like to follow Dr. Dodds limited vaccine protocol. I started looking around for parvo and distemper vaccines online. I'm so confused?
For those of you who do your own vaccinating, I would love to get your help.
What do I get? Recommendations on which brand/product? Where to buy a quality/safe product?
Also, we go to a dog park, I think they require bordetella.
Of course the vet will have to do the rabies vaccine.
Oh... do those of you who do your own vaccinations ever get challenged on the validity of your vaccines when getting dog park licenses or city animal licenses?
