McCoy I don’t know the math. My GSD is a bigtime lunger when it comes to seeing strange dogs on our walks. Through training, its getting better now @ 15 months.

I built a “zip line” (overhead trolley) for him in the back yard. The weakest component is rated at 170 lbs. He hasn’t escaped yet.

If you are worried about holding him back here is my setup. I have this thing: (For a frame of reference, he is 95 lbs)
PGRDL RETRACTABLE DOG LEASH - pet accessories - by BuilderDepot, Inc.
…and a martingale collar (if you dont know what this is, go to petmsart and look for the “non-slip” collar)

He hasn’t been able to break it yet.

However, it’s a pain in the… hold him back.

The best deterrent is training.

Random question :) Dog lunging and the force behind it.

Hey guys,

I'm just curious if there's any rough calculations you can do to figure out the force of a dogs lunge. Just looking into a few things in terms of leashes and I was curious if a dog lunged vs pulled on a leash what that peak number is..
