Looks like a Hyena made it with a Mal or something, that chest/neck has me transfixed.

What's her in home life like? With those eyes I'm going to guess she socializes pretty intensely, not forcing interaction but when she does interact it's 110% and hyper-focused? My Mal was that way, nothing would be done at anything less than max effort. If she cuddles and acts silly around her people I'm going to find a Dutchie.
Chanel is very aloof around strangers but is a total goof and cuddle bug with me and my husband. Yes, she is extremely athletic and very agile. She outruns Kip (my GSD who is 6 months older) by a mile and is constantly on the go yet settles nicely in the house. There is an intensity to Chanel's face that is very intimidating to some people, which is fine with me. When serious, she is REALLY serious, if you know what I mean. Since you have had a Mal before, I am betting you know what I mean.

I plan to do some bite work with Chanel this year. I was present at her breeder's kennel one day late last year during a personal protection class and her "switch" turned on immediately when the helper came out and began working the other dogs (we were there as observers). I was very much caught off guard by this, as I had not before seen this side to Chanel's personality, and realized then that she will likely do very well in protection sports. This pleases me very much as this is something I specifically had told the breeder I wished to do.

In fact, my breeder did a very good job in matching me up with Chanel. I wanted a guard dog but not one too "hard". I told the breeder I wanted a dog that I could compete with in things like agility and dock jumping, as well as personal protection. It was important to me that I also have a dog that would settle nicely in the house. It has involved some work with regard to establishing "house rules", but I figured that would be the case for such an active and smart dog. Chanel has not disappointed me and I feel I have the exact dog I asked for.

Gretchen I love your photos, you have such a beautiful dog. The breeder we got our GSD from also bred Dutch Shepherds, I never even heard of them before. The ones I've met had great temperaments. Really nice dogs, and very active.
