MaggieRoseLee Since this ---> http://www.germanshepherds.com/forum...s-puppies.html is what you should be training for now, you can start right away!

Sp00ks When the teeth come out, play ends. repeat. Worked for us. Turn your back, leave the room, ignore, whatever it takes.

We did 5-10 minute sessions 3 times a day. It seems to have worked for ours. Part of training to me is to be able to turn off or ramp down that over drive. I've had success except outside of training sessions when he goes psycho playing with another dog for instance. I need to do more training sessions when he is in this state. (I think)

Okin I would start in short sessions maybe 5 minutes at most and keep them fun and not a lot of corrections but a lot of positive reinforcement. Right now focus on getting the dog to look at you and pay attention to you don't expect too much just get them to enjoy it.

Best time for training?

My pup is about 8 weeks and I want to start some basic training for him. i know it's best to training when they are calm but my pup has two settings. over drive and too tired, even for boiled chicken. Anyone got any advice? i have a 13 month old son that Otto likes to jump up and mouth on. I can't have that and i want to nip that in the bud as fast as i can.
