NancyJ It looks like only seidio will have the waterproof/drop proof option for the note 3. The otterbox defender is all they have, no life proof, I had a great seidio case for the HTC (which I removed and well, a few weeks later it committed suicide. .......The reviews on the OBEX for the Galaxy are good. The defender is my fallback. The issue with a waterproof case is the s-pen. They say they are making it and it will be interesting to see how it works.

erfunhouse I had the original note and loved it. I currently have the Lg G2, which you said you won't buy. I've had the life proof case and the outer box water/dirt proof. The life proof case was UGLY and felt horrible in the hands. The otterbox added a lot of size, but worked wonderfully and felt so much better with no sound interference.

NancyJ Oh, I have been using (and guess I will continue to use) handcent SMS. The only issue with group texts is I have to check mobile each time each person (if I have a landline put in) but does not require everyone to be on the same app.

NancyJ No - and I just found out the case is not available YET but it is in development and being put on wish lists, even though the Galaxy models are out. An otterbox is already out. So for the time being it is zip lock in the rain and a cheap silicone protector.

Lifeproof is not available for this phone

MyHans-someBoy Just wanted to comment on the Lifeproof cases...

My husband and I both work outdoors and the case is really great at keeping dirt and water out. However, I really like listening to music and the sound quality is pretty crummy. He says a lot of people say he sounds like he's down in a barrel.
He also has a harder time hearing people.

I'm sure it is the "nature of the beast" and there is a trade off of sound quality for being water proof. I imagine all the truly shock proof and water proof cases are like this.

I know what kind of environment you work your dog in, so keeping water out is probably a priority.

I may switch to a different case and take my chances.

MichaelE Unfortunately, since this phone is relatively new, there are not a lot of aftermarket products available for it yet.

I'm holding out for an Otterbox for mine if they ever release one.

The Verizon guy on the phone didn't tell me what the plan was called, but he did put my mind at ease with the extra 4 GB at no additional charge.

NancyJ Called Verizon back and they agreed to the Verizon Max plan of 6GB for the same price of 2GB which is only for folks who already have unlimited. Thanks for telling me about it!!!!!

The phone could be had for $199 at Best Buy on a Verizon upgrade but I paid the $299 to get the extra data (BB does not have access to the Verizon Max option)

I figure I will use the s-pen a lot more than music - plus I can't get the case that I want for the HTC.

If you like listening to music on your phone there is no comparison. The HTC One Max has the best audio, with or without headphones than anything on the market.

The display is no slouch either.

NancyJ So here is another question on data usage. My company recently switched over to Office 365 (before it was only Blackberry and Iphone that could have emails 'pushed' to them). I have been occasionally checking emails on web view when I am out of the office but it would be nice to have an alert.

So Office 365 would be good for me. However, if I don't OPEN the attachments, am I still paying for them as data? That is same in general for emails...?

Thank you for that review. It was pretty informative, and has me thinking differently now. I thought it had a better camera then it did and have no use for the finger print part of it for sure.
